I am from New York and regularly travel to Lima on business. After finding TravelandSmile in this directory, it turned out that the clinic was close to my hotel. I saw the dentist who showed me a short slideshow of his work and was well impressed with what he could do so I had some minor dental treatment and I’m very happy with the result. After all, it cost me less than it would back home, so why not? I strongly recommend his clinic.

His consultation was very thorough and he made sure I understood everything he was explaining. He also took photographs of my teeth and used these to show me exactly what I needed. I have to say that I went to this dentist on the recomendation of Wolfy. This is the first time I enjoyed being at a dentist, the first time I felt sooooooo comfortable with someone looking into my mouth!
Afterwards I learnt in detail about the condition and shapes of my teeth and the procedures to fix anything wrong. He gave me all the alternatives available. I was so shocked at not only the advancements in dentistry but his clinic seems up to speed with all of them and he seems to have invested in such things to be one of the best dentists in Lima. I think he said he was a cosmetic dentist.
Well, I know its alot of praise but there is a drawback in that you have to pay for such experience. He has alternatives… you can choose what and when you want to have something done and he is very kind.
He even sent me a copy afterwards of the photos, detailed photos of my teeth, while considering what to do next.
And he speaks very good English!

Several weeks ago I read some posts regarding dentistry in Lima on the website Living in Peru. I was interested because I had a dentist in the US tell me I needed to have a crown replaced. There were some endorsements for a dental office in Lima. I check the web page and when I got to Lima I made an appointment to see Dr. Enrique Yuen. I was able to get in very quickly and Dr. Yuen gave me a complete examination. One of the techniques he used was to incorporate digital photography in the examination and then sat down with me to show me how my teeth looked using computerized digital pictures. He specifically showed me how my crown looked from all angles and then compared them to people with gum disease and deterioration around their crowns. He pointed out I did not have any of the signs dentists look for and stated he did not believe the crown had to be replaced at this time. I found this approach very refreshing and honest; something I have come to not always expect in the US. I was recommended by a friend (another dentist) to Dr. Enrique Yuen. He is very professional and patient doctor. He also speaks very good english and he takes his time to make a PERFECT SMILE. He is a pefectionist!! I´m very satisfied about not only the service but the results.

We had a very interesting end to our trip to Peru here! Just before we left on holiday we had missed our teeth cleaning appointments, and here apparently the dental care is world class and very cheap. I called this morning to a place right behind our hotel in Miraflores, and he had us both in at 4pm this afternoon. Dr. Enrique Yuen saw us on time, and for the very first time in our lives, a dentist actually took high quality close up pictures of all our teeth surfaces and sat down and showed us them and went through things! My husband had teeth cleaning, anti staining (which is like a sand blasting for stains!) and a fluoride treatment! I also had the Zoom whitening done and brought home extra whitening kits for not too much more. I was not looking for amazingly bright teeth, but I had been noticing how discolored they were getting. We were in and out within two hours and were very happy. I was also told and shown why the fillings that we have had put in on Tortola were not lasting! The type they use are only designed to last 3-4 years, which is criminal when you consider what we pay for dentist work there. I will never go to a dentist on island again. For those who need a lot of work done, they have a speeded up system of doing things so you can fly down here, get it all done in the minimum amount of time. I firmly believe that if you needed a lot of work, you would definitely pay for your holiday here in Lima, Peru with the amount of money you would save compared to where I have been in the past. I just cannot believe that I called this morning, and I was in this afternoon.
Add that to the fact that you got to watch TV with headphones while the work was being done!!! My husband said he was like the pig going to market on his way to the dentist as he hates them, but he found this his most inoffensive visit ever to a dentist.

We were and are still impressed by our dentist visit!
1) That you had availability right away and saw us at the right time.
2) That you took pictures of all our teeth surfaces and sat down and explained things to us. It made it so much easier when we could see actual pictures of what we needed. No one had ever taken the time to do that before and we felt that was great service.
3) The price was of course, very good.
4) The equipment was great and the most up to date I have seen, even comparing it to the states.
5) My wife, who hates dentists, did not mind the visit! He felt you were very gentle.
6) It takes us months where we live to get a dentist appointment and it is generally very expensive and not very good, besides the fact that they do not explain anything to us.

It’s been so great to be home. So the teeth have gone down very well. Only a few people have actually commented on them directly. Most people just say how great and happy I’m looking, which is what I wanted. A subtle difference – and it obviously means I’m smiling more.
Not sure if there’s a boyfriend on the way but have already been headhunted for a very cool job in London, so the new teeth are bringing some good luck already!

I was in Lima a while ago and was looking to have serious work done on my teeth. I had found the run-of-the-mill Peruvian dentists who offer treatments at amazing prices, but found that perhaps the treatments themselves weren’t quite as amazing as they had lead me to believe!! In one case, shockingly bad!
Found Dr Enrique Yuen (www.travelandsmile.net), quite by chance, he gave me a number of options – about the quality and time it would take depending on treatments selected by my good self. I needed someone of good rapport, trustworthy, highly qualified and that spoke English. I opted to go with Dr Yuen for those reasons and because his explanations were clear, offered a number of options for completing treatment and that technology he has, well, talk about top-notch stuff! It’s amazing! Never saw most of that gear in England!
I’m glad he offered me the chance of a full smile makeover, which I jumped at the chance to have.
What’s more is that I also found his pricing to be fair and lower than that of the other ‘top’ practices in Lima. Anyway, 3 years on and all is good with my teeth – haven’t seen a dentist since and am more than happy with the great results I have.

To tell you the truth, I didn’t expect so much from your dental services because I have been to many others in the last couple of years. You have made dental practice one that I could respect again.

I would like to say that I am so happy to have met a Dentist like Enrique. He is a great person and very serious about his work. He is also surrounded by great people as well. He has 2 awesome assistants and has a great colleague, Migel Angel Coz, an oral surgeon. He does have the best service by far.
I say this as I have lived in many places such as New York, Sweden and now in Florida. I never have been a fan of dentist and the reason to going to Peru was not my idea. My wife made all the arrangements and plans. I can say he made me feel so relaxed from the very first hand shake. He did more work on me than what I have had done in 3-5 years. I am planning to go back to get more work done.

Dentists in the US, in my experience, do not take the time to explain comprehensive dentistry to their patients. It would simply take too much time out of their day and money out of their pockets. Enrique took the time to go over my x-rays with me in detail, and explained all of the procedures and why each one was necessary. I still can’t believe that I had all of that work done in such a short amount of time! 2 crowns, 3 inlays, teeth whitening, 2 dental implants, and bone grafting in 1 week’s time, that would have taken a couple months, at least, in the United States, and at more than double the price. His staff was so professional, and so friendly.
I am coming back in April to get the implants completed with crowns, and I can honestly say that I am looking forward to going to the dentist in Lima !

After years of going to so called “cosmetic” dentists in Lima and being VERY dissapointed, I found Dr. Yuen. He was very patient and understanding when i explained what i wanted and expected. He didn’t let me down! I had gum contouring,veneers, new crowns, tooth colored fillings etc. I am so happy to have finally found someone as professional and EXTREMELY patient as Dr. Yuen. I would like to start out by saying that I am A Park Avenue Doctor in NYC.
I have been to many of the top specialists in the US, and nothing impressed me more that Dr Yuen’s level of professionalism and expertise.
I found Dr yuen through my Peruvian wife’s friend, when we were visiting the country.
Thinking about doing only cavities and the like.
But after seeing his before and after work , I knew that I had to try the full cosmetic treatment.
In three days I left with a brand new smile that I know in NYC would have cost me at least $30,000.

I wanted to wait until everything was done so that I could better inform of my experience. The office was 3 blocks away from my hotel. I walked there in 5 minutes. Although if you prefer they will have somebody pick up you up. It’s a little easier to walk the streets freely as a guy, but I’m not sure how comfortable you are walking around Lima.
My teeth turned out great and the price was unbelievable. He will work with you to get the most possible return from your insurance company.
Really he is incredibly nice, his staff is excellent. They all speak English very well. And if that’s not enough he’s very flexible with our schedules and understands are limited time in Lima.

Both doctors Yuen, Erika and their staff were an absolute pleasure. I had always wanted to have my teeth whitened, but knew I would have to have a lot of reconstructive work done first, including a root canal, 4 inlays and 2 crowns. Within a week I had all the work done and a very bright smile. I had been putting off the work because of bad experiences in the past and was a very nervous patient.
Everyone was so kind to me, very attentive to my needs and explained everything as it happened. And the best part was that I had absolutely no pain – I wouldn’t have believed it if it hadn’t happened to me. It has completely changed my outlook and given me a reason to smile again.

My appointment to pick up my nightguard took longer than expected. The guard didn’t fit, and so the doctor had to re-make the impression and make another guard. I didn’t mind waiting since he re-made the guard completely.

I was blown away with the standard of the clinic, and the care was out of this world. It made my home dentists(Scotland) look like a basic back street outfit!! Upon retuning home my own dentist was suitably impressed with the work done, and said to get that quality done in the UK I’d be thinking about remortgaging my house!

I just had the Zoom 3 treatment last night. It was fantastic. I had not one but two dentists plus an assistant attending to me in perfect English. They explained everything clearly and made sure I was comfortable. They told me I could go 3×15 minute sessions and have a free 4th if I felt okay. I was luckily and really felt only slight discomfort and took the 4th treatment as I watched Hell’s Kitchen on the LCD TV. When finished they clearly explained the post treatment and I was on my way. I was there less than 2 hours.
Here is one piece of advice. DO NOT go after 6pm unless you arrive by helicopter or live close by. The traffic is INSANE at this hour and this location forces you to pass all sorts of construction including the electric train mess. It took over an hour by taxi to get there from Miraflores.
Lloyd was awesome at setting me up and I messed up my appointment time on top of the traffic and they took me in more than an hour past my scheduled time without any problem. I really cannot recommend this clinic enough. I’ll be going there for all of my dental work but I’ll be making appointments during the day that’s for sure.

Thank you so much for the great Dental Care! It was far and beyond what I had expected and overall it was a wonderful experience. My restorations feel great and I will definitely be back for my dental implants in the future as I have already been reimbursed with my American dental insurance.

Dear Lloyd, Dr. Yuen and all associates,
It has been three months now since I finished my dental work with you and I love everything that you did. I would highly recommend you to all my friends as the place to go to get excellent dental work.
1. More reasonably priced there in Lima, than here in the U.S.
2. You have an absolutely lovely facility there and compared to dental facilities here in Florida, it would rank it in the upper 10%.
3. Your facility is much more “time oriented” than any of the ones that I have been to over the past 60 years here in the States. I probably had a total of 8 to 10 appointments with you and every appointment you took me either a few minutes before my appointment time, or at the appointment time. (And I didn’t have to wait in a chair for 30 minutes for the dentist to see me, as happens often here in the States.)
4. As far as the equipment and technology that you are using, I would have to rank it in the top 5% of the dental offices here in the State and it wouldn’t surprise me at all, if you were not the top one there in Lima.
5. Everyone there was extremely cordial to me and treated me as a guest and not as a patient.
I feel lucky that I made the decision to use Dr. Yuen versus a couple of other dentist that I was considering. But I have to admit that was just blind luck on my part because I had not received a recommendation from anyone and you guys sounded the best to me. Of course your and Dr. Yuen’s perfect English was a real benefit to me, considering my Spanish is almost zero.
To sum it up: I loved everything about the care I was given, I found the prices agreeable to me, and my teeth are perfect now!
