Dental Electives
TRAVELandSMILE has many requests by dental students to perform their dental elective placements and shadowing with us here in Lima, Peru. Students like to come and spend at least a day observing and learning about dentistry with us. They have the opportunity to see orthodontics, endodontics, implantology, cosmetic dentistry and much more at our clinic in Lima.
We also offer full packages for students wishing for hands on experience and to be involved in some of the work that we do. That’s not to say that we’ll just throw you in at the deep end, but instead provide a number of specific patients with certain treatment requirements. Using Cerec 3D CAD CAM technology and Zoom whitening are always popular. Tips and techniques for closing sales are also given, along with use of x-ray machines (panoramic & NomadPro) and countless other aparatus.
Each student will be able to perform a number of treatments of their preference directly on patients, while being guided and supervised by one of our dentists. This includes all materials to be used on training, all sterilization and instruments, all disposable supplies etc. Each student simply comes with their dental jacket/scrubs and personal camera!

Sinus Lift Procedure
This procedure involves elevating the sinus membrane and placing the bone graft onto the sinus floor, allowing implants to be placed in the back part of the upper jaw.
Ridge Augmentation
In severe cases, the ridge has been reabsorbed and a bone graft is placed to increase the ridge height and/or width. In other cases, a technique called osseodistraction can be used to increase ridge height.
