Benefits of Dental Tourism in Lima, Peru

Here’s a list of some of the benefits of traveling overseas for your dental care. As you read, you may be surprised to see there are far more benefits than simply saving a lot of money. Let’s take a look:

1- Travel opportunities when combining your procedure with a vacation
This is a major benefit to some. When you are told that you have a major dental procedure which needs to be done, you may think of this as a negative. You might think of all the time, cost, and begin to hate your luck.
However, stuff happens. This is a fact of life. The mouth needs it’s regular maintenance and when things go wrong, it needs fixing. Accept that this needs to be done and turn the negative into a positive. Use this as a reason and excuse to take that long awaited holiday you’ve been talking about, perhaps even that holiday of a lifetime to an exotic destination you always wanted to visit. Besides the procedure and a couple days of recovery, you will have a lot of time to relax and adventure. If you are traveling to Peru for your dental holiday, consider learning to surf on Lima’s coast, see Llamas and Alpacas and later visit the treasures of World Heritage achaelogical sites in Lima and around Peru.

2- Overseas dental care in Lima is cost effective
Traveling abroad for your dental care can save you thousands of dollars. Where a procedure may cost $7,000 back home, it might cost $2,500 here which is inclusive of your entire dental holiday!

3- Overseas dental care is convenient
This may be the hardest to believe, but it’s true. How can traveling across the world to have your dental work done be more convenient than having it done in back home? Well, depending on the procedure, you may have many screening interviews to go through before you can proceed. For the United States especially, this is a major concern and time taker. For some people taking a half day off from work five times is not an option.
With overseas dental work, you aren’t just a number to them. You are a valued customer where you can easily get hold of your dentist and in-country coordinator to do whatever needs to be done via the phone, email or visit. Patients can even select the day these take place and the dentist will work around your schedule. Not the other way around.

4- No waiting period
This is a big one for me. Why wait when waiting is not needed?
As mentioned above, if you go abroad for your dental care, your dentist will work around you schedule. You are not going to be told you need to wait three months for a procedure you want done immediately. You are able to book an immediate appointment and even speak to your dentist from your home. Arriving one day and being in the chair the following morning with Dr Enrique Yuen, our specialist – impressive stuff.

5- Affordable AND great service – something to truly smile about!
By going abroad for your dental service you are throwing away old outdated traditions and stepping into the new world. The old idea of getting what you pay for will quickly become a fallacy. Just because the dental work will be a fraction of the cost does not mean service will poor.
In fact, by going overseas you will often get better service. You will feel a higher level of service before in any medical facility back home. It’s like going to a five star hotel for the price of a half star. You truly have to experience this to believe the level of service you will receive.

Low Cost, World Class Dental Implants in Lima, Peru

Dental Implants in Lima Peru

Dental Implants are perhaps the most comfortable and longest lasting treatments for missing teeth. Dental Implants with us in Lima, Peru can be placed quickly by our Master Implantologist, Dr Coz and with the latest technology in ”Immediate Load” implants, you can have treatment complete with the final tooth all within a week.

The ”Immediate Load” procedure isn’t suitable for everyone, but if you have sufficient jaw bone density to support it, it is an excellent option. If you’re not suitable, a period of three months is required before placing the final tooth. This allows the implant post to become fully integrated with the jaw to support biting forces once the final crown is placed.

Either way, dental implants are the best option for replacing missing teeth. How much do they cost? We use the best and most recognized brands of implants around the world.

What’s the Cost?

Our implants start from just US$789! That’s around 1/3 the cost of the US, Canada and the UK. Plus, they all come with Lifetime Guarantees and certification, too – all for your added peace of mind.

Kids Dental Health!

We always advocate that it’s never too early to begin good dental habits, and that means being aware of dental issues from the ”baby” tooth stage, right up until our more mature years.

Most people don’t even think about dental health for children until they have a number of teeth in their mouth, but you might be surprised to learn that even babies need dental attention! Ask us about cleaning your babies gums and first teeth, dental issues with bottle feeding and do your best to  practice excellent dental health even for your babies. Good dental hygiene at this stage will help to prevent issues later on in life.

In the ”good old days”, most people, as a matter of course, expected to lose their teeth as they aged. These days, we know that with proper dental care, there is no reason that you shouldn’t continue to enjoy your own teeth, no matter what age you are.

The key to good oral health in your twilight years is to establish good brushing and flossing habits early in life, to prevent decay and gum disease from deteriorating your dental health. Regular dental checkups are a must too, as not only do they give us the opportunity to check your teeth, but they also allow us to contribute to your total health as we check for periodontal (gum) disease, oral cancer and other diseases that can effect other parts of your body.

In today’s health conscious society, it’s shocking to hear that, according to the Acadey of General Dentistry, three out of every four adults over the age of 35 are affected by some sort of gum disease. We believe that this statistic can be reduced drastically by following some simple steps:

1. Brush with a flouride toothpaste twice daily for 2-3 minutes

2. Floss once per day

3. Have a dental checkup and professional cleaning every 6 months

4. Ask us about sealants that protect your teeth from bacteria that cause decay

In severe cases, gum disease can lead to loose teeth that eventually fall out, leading to a host of other expensive and possibly unpleasant tooth replacement options such as dentures and implants. Patients with osteoporosis need to be especially aware of this, as the bones holding their teeth in place are much more vulnerable than other peoples’.

Please talk to us about proper brushing and flossing techniques and remember that healthy teeth give a healthy, beautiful smile which is something that we are all entitled to.

Teeth Whitening Makes Your Smile Sparkle!

Your smile is the first thing people will notice about you – and we all want to make a good first impression, don’t we?

Whiter and brighter teeth give you a vibrant and healthy look. If you are not happy with your smile, teeth whitening may provide the solution.

Teeth Whitening Procedures Can Help:

• Lighten coffee, tea and wine stained teeth

• Remove cigarette and tobacco discolorations

• Correct yellowing in teeth caused by aging

Choices for Whiter Teeth

Dr Enrique Yuen, founder of PeruDental.com in Lima, Peru will advise you of which whitening procedure will be best for you. The following are two options for whitening your teeth:

In-office Teeth Whitening with Zoom, 45 minute Whitening System

Zoom 3 Advanced Power whitening is completed in just one visit – in fact, you’ll be in and out in about hour and your teeth will be 6-10 shades lighter than when you arrived! Zoom is safe, effective and fast – very fast!

At Home Dentist-supervised Whitening

We make you a custom fit, professional mouth tray and apply a whitening gel to each tooth indentation. You wear it for a few hours each night. As easy as 1, 2, 3.

These trays will be worn for between one and two weeks depending on how dark your teeth are. More severe stains can be improved with an extended use of the home whitening system or by using the in-office system together with the home system.

Flossing – a quick reference quide!

Improve your dental health and floss your teeth regularly to remove plaque and food buildup between them.

This is one effective way to successfully flossing your teeth:

  1. Using a minimum of about 18 inches of floss, wind most of it around one of your middle fingers and the remaining floss around the same finger on the opposite hand.
  2. Holding the floss tightly between thumbs and forefingers, guide the floss gently between the teeth, using a gentle rubbing motion. To avoid injuring your gums, never snap the floss into gum tissue.
  3. When the floss reaches the gum line, curve it into a ‘C’ shape against one tooth. Gently slide it into the space between the gum and the tooth. Holding the floss tightly against the tooth, gently rub the side of the tooth moving the floss away from the gum with up and down motions.
  4. Repeat this method on all of your teeth, not forgetting the back side of the last tooth.

Take good care of your teeth – brush them correctly!

Show your teeth you care! Pick up your toothbrush twice per day to fight tooth decay and gum disease!

This is one effective way to clean your teeth:

  1. Place toothbrush at a 45 degree angle against the gums and move the brush gently back and forth in short, tooth wide strokes. Always remember, brushing with excess force can damage your gums.
  2. Brush the outer tooth surfaces.
  3. Brush the inner tooth surfaces and the chewing surfaces followed by cleaning the innerside of the top and bottom front teeth using gentle up and down motions.
  4. Finally, brush your tongue to help remove bacteria and freshen your breath.

Crown Lengthening and Gum Grafting

Periodontal procedures are available to lay the groundwork for restorative and cosmetic dentistry and/or to improve the esthetics of your gum line. You may have asked your periodontist about procedures to improve a “gummy” smile because your teeth appear short. Your teeth may actually be the proper lengths, but they’re covered with too much gum tissue. To correct this, your periodontist performs crown lengthening.

During this procedure, excess gum and bone tissue is reshaped to expose more of the natural tooth. This can be done to one tooth, to even your gum line, or to several teeth to expose a natural, broader smile.

Your dentist or periodontist may also recommend crown lengthening to make a restorative or cosmetic dental procedure possible. Perhaps your tooth is decayed, broken below the gum line, or has insufficient tooth structure for a restoration, such as a crown or bridge. Crown lengthening adjusts the gum and bone level to expose more of the tooth so it can be restored.

What are the benefits of this procedure?

Whether you have crown lengthening to improve function or esthetics, patients often receive the benefits of both: a beautiful new smile and improved periodontal health – your key to smiling, eating and speaking with comfort and confidence.
