Dental Bone Grafting

A dentist uses bone grafting techniques in order to build up the jaw bone area of patients so that they are able to receive dental implants succesfully.  Dental implants provide solutions for missing teeth in a more natural way than all available alternatives.  Modern advancements in technology and dental materials combined with decades of research and numerous trials in clinical settings have led to this miraculous technique for dental restoration.

The bone graft gives the jaw renewed strength, often completely remodelling areas, in order to suppert the dental implant procedure and restore dental health back to its best.

Gum Disease – Periodontitis

What is periodontal disease?

Periodontal disease is an infection of the gum and bone around the teeth.  The gums gradually pull away from the teeth and if it is not treated, with time the teeth become loose and eventually need to be extracted.  Studies indicate more than half the adults in the U.S. have periodontal disease.

How do I know if I have periodontal disease?

Most people who have periodontal disease are not aware of it because it is painless until late stages.  The following warning signs can indicate a problem:

  • Gums that bleed easily
  • Red, swollen, or tender gums
  • Persistent bad breath
  • Gums that have pulled away from your teeth slightly

What’s the solution?

Regular visits to your dentist for professional cleanings are always important, every six months. Brush teeth correctly and regularly at least twice per day. Flossing is also important as it removes food elements stuck between teeth that cause decay.

Gap Closing with Veneers

Gap closing is often done simply by using veneers. Veneers can add height, width, shape and the correct color shading to match that of your other teeth. In these photos you can see the difference that veneers make in a normal sized gap between the two front teeth.

Replacing Old Veneers

Replacing old veneers is a quick and easy process. Whether they are simply old and worn or if they’ve suffered some damage in the years you have had them, the solution is a quick and long lasting one.

Knocked Out Tooth – ouch!

When a tooth is knocked out, it is vital that a dentist addresses the injury within 30 minutes of the accident in order to have a chance of saving the tooth.

You must:

Gently rinse the tooth if it is dirty, taking care not to remove any attached tissue fragments.

Or, place the tooth back in to its socket and hold it in place with your fingers or by gently biting down on it. Alternatively, store the tooth in your mouth between the cheek and the gums. If neither of these are possible, immerse the tooth in milk and take it with you to your dentist.
